Why I Needed Africa More Than Africa Needed Me

At the beginning of this trip one of my teammates told our team about a company called “I need Africa more than Africa needs me.” For the past 3 months i’ve kept a list of why I personally needed Africa more than Africa ever needed me. Here is a short (well long) list of some of the life changing things i’ve learned and recorded during my stay in Africa: 1)to learn that others and their needs need to be placed before my own 2) to learn how to live fully with nothing 3)to surrender everything so my hands are free and open to God’s abundant grace and blessings...

All you have to do is ask.

Luke 11:9 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  It’s really as simple as that. I’ve learned in the past few weeks that God wants to use me. All I have to do is be willing and to ask. Time after time I have asked God to be the one He would use in a certain person’s life. And it seems to be the very next moment or day that He answers. Time Flies By…

I’m just sitting outside right now in the sunshine and on a chair in Africa with chickens literally all around me. I am just really happy. I am content. I am loved. I am a daughter of Christ. I am blessed. I love God. I love music. I love life. I love myself. I can do all things through he who strengthens me. He is God! He is Awesome! He is powerful! He is the creator! He is mine! He is yours! I was just sitting here reading the bible and found a verse I really like, its Psalm 130:7 “O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full...

Break My Heart.

Break My Heart The song “Hosanna” sung by Hillsong has been a great song for me this trip. In one of the refrains it says “break my heart for what breaks yours, everything I am for your kingdoms comes, as long as I walk from earth to eternity”. Being here in Nsoko, is breaking my heart. Playing with all these kids, and building relationships with people here, has had a huge impact on my heart, especially this week. At the beginning of the week, I met a little girl named Nopinimiso. When I held her, she was burning hot, so I took her to the clinic. She ended up...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving! I’m so happy today 🙂   So…it’s been a long time since we’ve had meat to eat. We’ve probably only had it 3 times this whole trip. But yesterday we had the priviledge of killing 3 chickens by ourselves so we could eat it today! It was quite the experience. Gross? Yes.. extremely. Repulsive? Of course! The chicken got loose after we cut it’s head off, that was fun trying to catch it again. Thankfully we had some help from some of our friends we’ve made here. They walked us through each step. But are we all proud of ourselve...
