Crazy memories, Ordinary people, and an Extraordinary God.

We’ve reached our halfway mark in this journey, and over debrief this past week we were encouraged to celebrate.  We went around the group and shared our favorite moments from the past month and a half. Some were serious, some were funny, but all of them were a celebration of what The Lord has shown us in this beautiful place. It’s important to live in the present, to let go of the nostalgia of past experiences in some ways, but it’s also important to reflect on what you’ve been blessed with, and just remember how gracious our Heavenly Father is with His...

“daddy’s got you”

“Daddys got you”. Three words that inspired me to have courage. To trust that however scarry the jump, my daddy was waiting at the other end. His strong arms waiting to catch me. Giving me the faith to take the leap into the unknown waters. “Daddys got you”. The words that gave me the bravery to climb up onto my bike, now without training wheels. My daddy was so patient, following behind me, for what must have been hours. His neck tie across my chest, and under my arms. He stayed with me, promising not to let go until I was ready. He never did break that promise....

Falling in love

Falling in love is a funny thing…  It reminds me of putting your finger into the straw holder on your to-go cup. It’s ok while it’s happening, but moving on hurts terribly.    This week I fell in love. I fell in love knowing as it was happening that I would have to physically move on quickly.  It wasn’t on purpose, I didn’t mean to stick my finger in the trap. But I did, and let me just tell you, the little bit of pain was worth it all my friends.     I fell in love with a 5 year old that broke his pencil on purpose, so he could...

I will always be in chains

The closer I’ve come to God, the more I have come to understand that I’m not free from chains. In fact, the closer I get to my Savior, the more chained down I am. I have never in my life been free from chains, nor have you. Think of it this way, there are two different types of chains. Those which come from below, and those which come from above. We’re always bound in one. The chains which come from below come from the earth, and are of the flesh. Most of my life I was bound in these chains, which I couldn’t break, but only Christ could (and...

The cost

“If anyone ould come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me”. Luke 9:23 .Powerful words spoken by none other than Jesus Christ himself. But what does that mean, really? That’s the question I’ve been asking myself all this past week…This is something Christians don’t really like to talk about. “The cost of following Jesus” we’d much rather dwell on his love, his goodness, his Grace and mercy… But the more I study the life of Jesus’ disciples the more he convicts me. The radical way they...
