WAKE UP

“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  -Ephesians 5:14-16            Our team decided to go on a fast from food for 2 and a half days. It was a crazy time of really tapping into how these people really live. Yesterday was one of our weaker days, tired weak and hungry. We went to a care point and did some crafts and handed out shirts. When we got...

warrior

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”     This summer someone gave you a word and said that God was calling me to be a warrior.  I did not believe her when she told me this, so God put that on another persons heart to tell me that God was choosing me to be a warrior.    Our group did a two day fast, which was difficult, but rewarding.  During our fast I asked God if he was really preparing me to be a warrior and what the meant. ...

Contentment

Wednesday we went to one of the carepoints around the Manzini area. My entire day was spent holding this little boy who would not speak, nor look me in the eyes. I did not actually know his name, because they gave me three different ones for him. I did not know how old he was, because he would not even talk to our translators nor the GoGos (grandmas) there. I did not even honestly know whether he was a boy or girl til the end of the day when his bother picked him up and I asked him “Sisi or Booty?” which means “Sister or brother?” As I sat and thought through my day...

On Monday, we spent the morning playing with children at the Timbutini care point. I was sitting with this 4 year old little girl who was counting to 100 when I saw this precious boy walk by. He couldn’t have been any older than 5, but he captured my heart instantly. I waved to him and he came and sat down beside me.      He was so shy when I tried to talk to him. His hand was wrapped up, as if he had broken it, but he wouldn’t talk about it when I asked him. Since he wouldn’t talk, I decided to make him laugh. And what’s the...

New True Beauty

I’ve really been growing and meditating on the word BEAUTY. As  I was reading my book Captivating, I came across this: “Think about what it is like to be caught in traffic for more then an hour. Horns blaring, people screaming obsecenities. Exhaust pouring through your window, sufficating you. Then remember what it is like to come into a beautiful place, a garden or a meadow or a quiet beach. There is room for your soul. It expands. You can breathe again. You can rest. It is good.”Beauty...
