Run with Perseverence

These are some verses that Shannon shared with me this week that pretty much describe what the Lord has been asking of the rest of our time in Africa: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the...

Let The Waters Flow

So here we are in the final weeks of my stay here in Africa. We have transitioned to our new location in Nsoko. The scenery is breath taking and the feeling here is so different, but i love it. Before we transitioned we had a few days of relaxation in South Africa where i was able to have my first real shower in 2 months (gross i know). Along with this, one particular night we had a time of worship. There were three men from south africa that came over to our hostel and just sang songs. During this time we were asked to use our creative side and draw, if we wanted to, what God was putting...

Running over.

1 Corinthians 13:8. Love never ends.   Something God has continually been speaking to me and revealing to me for the past month and a half is the fact that love never ends. A while ago I started studying the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 and the first part of the fruit is love so the thought that love never ends comes from dwelling on the fruit. Stop and think about it for a second. Love never ends.   Love never ends.   Ever.   Never.   John 15:12 says, “This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved...

Lights

Starting the first night in Nsoko, multiple of us have seen lights in our rooms in the middle of the night, myself included. And while truthfully it freaked me out when I saw it, God has also reminded me how much of a difference one light can make. As I watched this light,it was glowing so brightly by my bed and yet my bunkmates didn’t stir one bit. And it was so bright! I still don’t know how they didn’t wake up to it. It glowed so brightly and so far  and it didn’t it me then but a few days later: we are all lights.  I knew This before but to have an actual...

Nsoko

It amazes me each day how many things I take for granted. These kids here in Nsoko have so much responsibility! There is a family that lost both their parents and the oldest girl who is 13 takes care of her family. Wow! Most kids here only get one meal a day, if that. They work hard and go to school. They are missing out on their childhood! My heart is breaking for these kids. I want to give them all the love I can. I wish I could take them all home with me! Lord, I pray that you bless these kids and shower your love on them. Let them feel your peace and comfort and continue to help me...
