The Intruders.

Last night I was awoken by footsteps outside our hut. Typically i’d just roll over and assume it was just the cute little grandma that lives just feet away, but when I checked the time I realized it was just 1:30am and there was no way she was up. I laid there… eyes darting back and forth… wondering what the heck was going on. Being the team leader to an all girls team I am ultra aware of our surroundings. I cannot tell you the number of men I have mean mugged when they even think about looking in our direction. Mama hen, if you will. But, these footsteps weren’t...

Calling All Men

My heart is with the young boys of Swaziland. Don’t get me wrong, I love holding me a baby But my heart is absolutely destroyed for these boys. They make actions of rebellion They are quiet They want to be mysterious. They have walls built all around their hearts. They are desperate They are fatherless…as is pretty much every child in Swazi. They are hurting They are the future of this country I know and believe that Swaziland WILL NOT be gone by 2050. These people will beat HIV/AIDS.These people will rise above their current sexual saturated culture.Husbands will not dare touch their wives...

We live in a hut…

Once upon a time…. We live in Africa. This is like no other African experience. We live in the bush. We live in a hut. Like seriously a real hut. The roof is made of straw. But, I am freaking thankful for it. We have an outhouse. I don’t recommend looking down inside of it…. But if you do…. bless your soul. That is an experience I would never wish upon anyone. Aside from raccoons…. My new fear has become falling into that hole. It is unrighteous. But, I am freaking thankful. We don’t have running water…. We get water from this big ol’ metal tank called a...

We Made It!

After a 3 hour bus ride….9 hour wait at the Atlanta airport and many cups of coffee….Plus a 16 hour flight over the Atlantic….We have officially arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are staying here for the night and getting up bright and early to hop on a busand party all the way up to Swaziland. We have met some extremely interesting people along the way. I’m sure we will compile a blog with all of our stories soon enough. In the airport…we lounged and ate chick-fl-a….and drank way to much coffee….and rode up and down the escalators….and...

Welcome to Swazi: The Land of “Hurry Up and Wait”

This is where: -you just accept the fact that there is a large pile of dirt and dust at the bottom of your sleeping bag-Swazi house music is just older American music-you realize that in the end, fat cakes are the only thing worth spending money on-Friday nights consist of extra spoonfuls of peanut butter-you literally never know what will happen next-you think that Riverstone Mall is your safe place, but then you hear that 2 hours earlier, a police officer was murdered-the internet cafe ruins the rest of your free day because it’s so stressful-you no longer know proper American...

I Can Only Imagine

Ì can only image what it will be like to stand before the Lord.  I can only image a world where there is no more pains, no more tears and no more fears.  Where there is no young children dying of HIV/AIDS or other ilnesses.  Where material wealth does not define a person.  Where all I can do is to sit before the Lord and praise Him.  Where I will have no sense of time, not feelings that I have other things to do, just only worshiping the Lord.  For once in my life be completely, 100% devoted to the Lord.  To be in a place where nothing else matters....
