Courage, Strength, and Faith

How do you write a blog about Africa when you’re not in Africa anymore?            My name is Amber Blankenship, Africa is my dream, and I’m the one that got sent home. I got sent home because my body was having a hard time adjusting to all the dust and smells, and the only way my body could convey that was through multiple asthma attacks. So how do I write about Africa, my dream, when I was sent home?...

Peter Walks on Water

Last Thursday, we did ATL (ask The Lord) in the city. Basically this means we ask The Lord in the morning for words, visions, directions, etc. for the day and then go where the Spirit leads us. I was with a team of 4 girls and we started our morning off praying at a local church. I got some really weird words and phrases from The Lord (at least I thought so). After we shared our lists as a team we went out. As we were walking we saw a nightclub called Club Babylon. Intrigued, we decided to go in. It was super dark and no one was inside except the bartender. He was 24 and super friendly so...

Generation of World Changers

In the decades following Jesus’ time on earth, Paul wrote the following words to the church in Corinth: Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible… To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its...

Loving the Orphans

An update from Swaziland! I am still alive, and I am loving every second of being in this beautiful country! I love the people, I love the weather, I love the amazing mountainous view, I love the way God is working in this country, and I love that I get to be a part of God’s divine plan for Swaziland! Another thing I have come to love very much is the family of orphans that live up the hill from our homestead. Their dad died four years ago, and their mother was sent to prison for seven years leaving her 7 children to fend for themselves. AIM found a care taker named Mbali (who I also...

Africa.

Wow! I am in Africa! The things I love about Africa: the people the simplicity the beauty the time the bus rank (hahaha it’s the craziest place, i’m not even sure how to describe it but I love it, it makes me feel alive) the people the people the people Swaziland has amazing people. They love like I have never seen before. Their love is genuine and easily given. They radiate. The people here thirst for the Lord, and his word. It’s incredible! While many of them ask for money they would rather you give them a bible. When you give out a bible litterally people swarm. People...

They Call Me Teacha

They call me teacha and I love them. Every day I spend five hours with nine five and six year olds who are now forever engrained in my heart and mind. They call me teacha. Never have I once considered teaching- God bless those with patience to teach. Seriously, thank you. Yet being “teacha” for just one month has blessed me beyond belief. Just to clarify- I am not the sole teacha. I work at a carepoint (preschool) under a phenomenal woman of God named Treasure- and honestly being in her presence is a treasure itself. Her kind heart, gentle spirit and wild humor inspire me every...
