The Joy of the Lord is My Strength.

“Joy. I feel joy. I feel really happy. You will be filled with joy. I see you dancing and laughing, full of joy! All will see and know you have the joy of Jesus in your heart as you pass them by.” These words were spoken to me Wednesday night from a couple different people. We all got a chance to practice listening to God’s voice for our brothers and sisters. The Spirit was powerfully moving through us and speaking words of truth and healing.  Most of my life I believed my joy would only grow with older age. As if age was the magical key to me turning into a joyful...

The First Week

Hey Everyone! Today is the big day when I’ll be leaving training camp in Gainsville, Georgia and heading to the Atlanta airport to fly to Johanesburg! From there we have about a five hour drive to reach our new home which is a small town near the city of Manzini. I am very excited! This week at training camp has been really great. I have loved getting to know my team better and learning about their backgrounds. It already feels as though we have known eachother for months instead of days. We have faced many new and unexpected experiences together which has brought us even...

One Night… Homeless

Upon arrival at the airport I was nervous about meeting the team I would be living in community with for the next three month. Little did I know that would be the first f many challenges i would be overcoming this week. The first night for example, I had to let go of my pre-conceived idea that I would be sleep in a warm bed for a solids nights rest, I soon found out that was not going to to be the case. Instead, we were split up in groups of about ten and sent out to the streets of downtown Atlanta to brave the cold and become homeless. Our team met many of the men who sleep in the cold...

Oh what a joy it is to be homeless

After nearly four months of preparation, I’m finally going to Swaziland.  I raised full support, got shots, insurance, said my goodbyes, and am now sitting in Gainesville, GA at training camp, hours from traveling to the airport.   Although I  expect the Lord to do some magnificent things in Swaziland, He has started preparing my heart already in the States.  He’s forced me to give up on some comforts already, one of them the comfort of a warm night’s sleep.   When we got to our cabins, I noticed quickly that...

Letting Go

God desires us to be in the whole, not just to be saved, but to be whole and healed. He wants to take all the broken and locked up parts of our hearts so we experience true freedom. He gives us beauty for ashes. This is the message that has been on my heart. Coming onto this trip I had no idea what to expect, I was just willing and open to whatever the Spirit wanted to do in me. I felt like God has just picked me up and dropped me into this place with unfamiliar people and unfamiliar situations where I have no control. The past few days have been a journey of learning how to submit to...

Getting ready to move the nations

This week has been filled with new experiences for many of us. Thursday morning we were encouraged (like many of the other sessions) to be open with our worship and prayer. We are to bodly declare what we are hearing from God. I feel like this session specifically was a breakthrough. People began to move more freely in worship and voice their prayers and thanks to God. Others felt called to share with the group. From that point it was like a revival started in us. People confessed burdens and were prayed over. As a body we lifted these prayers and requests to God- bodly asking for a...
