ANGEL

The past two days we have been fasting. Let me tell you, it has been quite the experience. Obviously as a diabetic I am not supposed to go without food. But as I was expressing my longing to be able to join the rest of the group to God He kept telling me… go as long as you can without food. If you need to take care of your level then do it. But just see what happens, LET ME TAKE CARE OF YOU! So that is what I did. I reduced my insulin and ate as little as possible… and I only had to eat twice in two days!!! I took my level several times a day to make sure I was alright and the Lord...

Dear Child of Swaziland

Dear Swazi Child- I saw you walking down the dirt road with your friends. School must have just ended because you were still wearing your school uniform; gold, green and brown from the dirt. When you and your friends came up to the fence I could not really understand what you were saying in your broken English. “Dree you said to me a few times as I filled up my pan with water. Oh “Drink it dawned on me so I told you to wait just a minute and went into the kitchen to retrieve a container to give you some water. When I came back out you and all your friends were already by the green...

Fighting Battles

All my life, in every season, you are still God and I have a reason to sing and worship. This morning our team broke our 60 hour fast with communion and worship. There was no doubt that the Holy Spirit fell on our little hut and moved in each of our hearts. This fast was one of the biggest lessons in obedience I have ever had. Yesterday night, we sat around in a circle and each shared how the Lord moved in our lives during the fast and what we heard him speaking to us. As I sat and listened to everyone’s testimony I kept asking the Lord why do I feel like I have not blatantly heard...

Healing Rain

Right now I am on top of the world. I don’t even know how to describe the incredible feeling that I have because of what God is doing in my life. Life here in Swazi is so amazing. God is pushing me like never before. We have seen Him moving in so many small ways but I have this hunger for more. I want to see God, see His hands at work, I know He is capable of big things. I cannot get enough of Him. Three days ago we decided as a team to fast for two days and really listen to God. We wanted to come together as a team in unity. I decided to just spend the day on a “Abba and...

Living in Reliance

My team and I just finished a 60 hour fast, starting Tuesday night and ending this morning with worship and communion. Reflecting on these past hungry days, I can easily see that the biggest lesson learned came within an hour of the first day beginning. Nsipo is out of work. Her husband is out of work. Her children are too young to work. Sometimes there is no food, no water, no comfort. Imagine that. Nsipo came to do our laundry on Wednesday and only five of us had clothes to be done, and only 150 rands to offer. She was expecting to wash the dusty, mud and sweat stained clothes of all 12...

warrior

“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”     This summer someone gave you a word and said that God was calling me to be a warrior.  I did not believe her when she told me this, so God put that on another persons heart to tell me that God was choosing me to be a warrior.    Our group did a two day fast, which was difficult, but rewarding.  During our fast I asked God if he was really preparing me to be a warrior and what the meant. ...
