A Voice in my Heart <3

Day 2 at training camp God spoke to me! I have never really felt that before and it was amazing, God was talking to me specifically, I was sitting listening to Kyla speak and a verse just popped into my head. It was James 4:10. I had the sudden urge to just open my Bible and read it. It said:   “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”    It just spoke to me because the whole time before this trip I had to give up a lot, and God was just telling me to give it all up to Him and He is in control. To anyone who feels like God never talks to...

Off we go!

As we are just now finishing training camp I find myself thinking that I can’t wait for it to be over! But not because it hasn’t been wonderful, it has! Only because I feel so Much more prepared and excited to go to Swazi after all that we have learned and done in the last few days… I’m finally ready to be there!! Training camp truly has been incredible. On the first day we had the opportunity to go of into atlanta and just talk to random people. Lucky us: dragoncon was in town! This filled the streets with extravagantly dressed scifi lovers imitating their favorite...

And The Journey Begins..

One might think that the words “training camp” are useless and boring. I mean, you pretty much already know everything, right? If you’ve been in church your whole life, know that jesus loves you and wants to love others, and how you’re suppose to share the Gospel to everyone you meet. So you don’t need this camp, right? Wrong. All of those things might be true but you can never be fully prepared for what God has in store for you and what  He wants to teach you. Training camp is definitely not useless or boring. It’s fun, crazy, energetic,...

When we arrrived the staff gleefully asked us if we were regretting how much we brought.    After a lovely sack lunch/dinner, We had a small training sesssion...

Training in Surrender

These past four days of training camp have impacted me in such a huge way. I really had no idea what to expect. It’s been really hard for me because I’ve been homesick. I didn’t really think about that affecting me during training camp. But I was really struggling with wanting to be two places at once. Yesterday morning, we did this activity that was called a Surrender Hike. We each had a log an we wrote things on it with a marker. We were supposed to write things that we still needed to surrender to God and not take with us on our trip. I felt like I needed to let go of...

Wahoo, HERE at training camp!

The super incredible amazing adventure has begun!  After all teams arrived at the Atlanta airport Friday, we were surprised with an envelope that gave us instructions to find our way to The Safehouse.  We took the Marta (subway) to Peachtree Street.  From there, we asked someone on the street for directions and then were on our way carrying our HEAVY weight of equipment that will last us for for the next three in a half months.  Let me just say:  it was heavy and a great hike to our destination.  At The Safehouse we were told that the rest of the night we were going to spend on the...
