Has anyone seen my heart anywhere??? I can’t seem to find it….

So the following are my thoughts and feelings after returning from a home visit a couple days ago.  A couple friends and I are getting to know this family really well and I just adore them and I felt so heartbroken at the fact that we’re going to have to leave them, probably to never return again. “Where has my heart gone? I’m afraid my heart is officially gone now, Lord. I adore that family so much that I’m now wondering how I’m going to be able to leave them in a month. They’re all so precious and loving and it’s such a wonderful feeling to...

Basically, it was a good day..

So 21 years ago on September 27, 1990, God brought a precious baby girl into the world at 8am. I don’t know anything else but that she was 8lbs and she was named Shannon Marie Myers. And now, 21 years later, on Tuesday September 27, 2011, I was able to celebrate that precious baby girl who is now a beautiful young woman! The day started off amazing. I was up early enough to see God’s awesomeness in the sunrise. What better way to start off your day?? Then the day was filled with ministry and spending time with this fabulous girl! We had a dance party in our kumby and sang to our little...

I think we’re in Africa

Yesterday we told the kumby driver to meet us at the hospital at 3óçlock’. Some of us were at a care point, some of us were at Hope House and just a few of us were at the hospital with our tanslaters, Nasepo and Nofondue.  When we were done at the hospital it was a little after 2 so a couple of us went down to the mall but some had to stay to meet the kumby, Nasepo, Nofondue, Natilie, Karli and me. It is very hot outside, Karli and I buy cokes, no kumby. 3oçlock passes, no kumby. We chit chat, come up with new subjects, ask Natilie for the tenth time what time it...

Extraordinary

What an adventure it’s been so far. I can now say I’m used to using a toilet with no privacy or flush. It’s normal to take a shower from a bucket. It’s now normal to come back from a carepoint covered in mud, food, slober, and who knows what else. It’s normal to chase chickens out of your room or walk beside herds of cows on the road. It’s normal to walk an hour to get somewhere only to wait another hour. It’s nomal for my feet to never, EVER be fully clean. It’s normal only to get your bucket shower once a week. It’s normal to eat 6...

Ministry practice

Ministry practice: As I see it, that’s really what we’re doing here. At least at our designated ministry places.  We have somewhere between 1 and 4 hours with these people once or twice a week. That is the influence that God has trusted us with in their lives. But what about the people we are with 24/7? Or even our families when we are at home? It would seem that we are to have greater ministry in their lives, seeing that the Lord is trusting us to that position a great deal more of the time than He is with “actual” ministry.  Often times when we get done with...

I AM …

I AM …   God wants to know who you are? He wants you to feel his presence and find out who you are in him.  The other night at our worship time Tara had a vision of us writting who we are in God.  I really Loved this!  I wrote I am faithful.  Ever since I got her I keep hearing faithful being used a lot in the songs the Swazi people sing and the second day we got here we asked the people to give us Saswati names, because that is what they like to do.  I was given the name “Thembekile” which means faithful to the one you love.  I am...
