Oh glory!

But you, O God my Lord, deal on my behalf for your name’s sake, because your steadfast love is good, deliver me! -Psalm 109:21. In this blog I just wanted to share something that I have been learning more solidly while here in Swaziland. It has everything to do with God’s strength and faith and His glory. On Monday as our team was walking home from ministry I began to pray and asked God to reveal lessons He was teaching me and things He was doing in me since coming to Swaziland. So often I find it easy to overlook the things that the Lord is doing in and for me so I have to...

Oh, How He Loves

I hear this song so often, but I rarely stop to think about it: how does Jesus really love me? I heard it put last week that “the chief way that Jesus loves us is in our weakness, our immaturity, our inability” and I can add my naïveté, my outright failure, my stubbornness, the list really goes on and on. His love means the most to me when I know that I really don’t deserve it, and those are the opportunities that He has to really show the depth of His love for us.   How then do I take John 13:34, when Jesus says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love...

Him Above All Else

The critical question for our generation -is this: If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ was not there? – John Piper, God is the Gospel              (taken from Crazy Love by Francis Chan)   As I read that paragraph, all of those things sounded so appealing because of where...

Blessed

It’s always been such fun giving gifts to people. To see a person’s face light up when they see what your gift is and you feel so satisfied. To give someone a gift in America is nice and the person’s thankful for it, IF they like it. But then the person you gave that gift to moves on with their life and they basically forget about your gift and what it meant.   Well, let me tell you something.   Africa is redefining what giving a gift REALLY means.   When you bless someone with a gift here, you finally discover a true satisfaction and happiness at gift...

blessed beyond belief

When I got to Swaziland I didn’t think it was anything of beauty. I thought the lands were dry and dusty, there were thorns everywhere, and rocks were much more common than flowers. As I’ve spent the past month calling this place home, I’ve discovered that it has a beauty that is indescribable. It has colors that you see through it’s amazing people. The community glows with love and care for one another. The joy and happiness is so beyond something I’ve ever seen, no matter how much they don’t have. The richest man in the world could never be as happy as...

It’s love.

In the past couple blogs I have mentioned Khosi.  Tuesday our team went back to the Hope House and there I saw Khosi again!  I walked in when Colleen, Cassie, and Natalie were in reading Scripture with her.  It is a blessing and amazing to be able to freely read Gods word to those who are in need of his perfect and true words.  When Tara and I sat down and joined in with talking to Khosi, she was not feeling too great.  she still had high spirits and spoke positive.  A couple things she said: she is ready for Jesus to return (AMEN!)  She was thinking and...
