Run with Perseverence

These are some verses that Shannon shared with me this week that pretty much describe what the Lord has been asking of the rest of our time in Africa: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the...

Nsoko.

Nsoko is BEAUTIFUL.   I was walking down a straight dirt road and was drawn to the beauty here, in Nsoko.  The road I was walking on is made of deep dark soil, the land felt empty- only a couple small straw huts were in sight, few lifeless trees, the land looked dry, everything seemed silent and empty.  Yet within the emptiness, there are so many children, many voices here that declare strength; beauty within these voices.  We walked past a railroad track (reminded me of home).  We walked past a mud pond.  While passing this mud pond, I thought people...

Lights

Starting the first night in Nsoko, multiple of us have seen lights in our rooms in the middle of the night, myself included. And while truthfully it freaked me out when I saw it, God has also reminded me how much of a difference one light can make. You Know You’re In Africa When…

1.) You have to strategically plan your peeing angle in order not to pee all over your feet. 2.) your newest obsession is learning about black mambas and asking everyone you meet the chances of you seeing one. 3.)being proposed to is a daily occurrence, and you wont say yes unless more than 10 cows are being offered in exchange. 4.) brushing your teeth, showering, going to the bathroom, basically everything is out in the open and among massive amounts of livestock. 5.) riding a bus sitting next to a live chicken in a plastic bag is just another bus ride. 6.) being white makes you...
