Nsoko

It amazes me each day how many things I take for granted. These kids here in Nsoko have so much responsibility! There is a family that lost both their parents and the oldest girl who is 13 takes care of her family. Wow! Most kids here only get one meal a day, if that. They work hard and go to school. They are missing out on their childhood! My heart is breaking for these kids. I want to give them all the love I can. I wish I could take them all home with me! Lord, I pray that you bless these kids and shower your love on them. Let them feel your peace and comfort and continue to help me...

Nsoko.

Nsoko is BEAUTIFUL.   I was walking down a straight dirt road and was drawn to the beauty here, in Nsoko.  The road I was walking on is made of deep dark soil, the land felt empty- only a couple small straw huts were in sight, few lifeless trees, the land looked dry, everything seemed silent and empty.  Yet within the emptiness, there are so many children, many voices here that declare strength; beauty within these voices.  We walked past a railroad track (reminded me of home).  We walked past a mud pond.  While passing this mud pond, I thought people...

Transition from timbutini to nsoko

Transition from timbutini to nsoko We have finally settled in into our new home in Nsoko. It’s been an interesting past week and I can see that God will do amazing things while we are here. Our ministry here is almost the same as it was in Tbutini. We are going to carepoints and house visits. I am also getting the opportunity to help teach in a preschool on site and it’s been a good experience. The kids can be wild, but I still love them. It is also really hot here in Nsoko. It has reached at least 109 degrees farenheit. We are sweating constantly but God is definitely working...

Called to Love

Do you know what it feels like to be called by God to something? I do. Often it starts out as a feeling or an idea that grows and I pray about or God presses on my heart until it become obvious that this is what God is saying. Sometimes. Sometimes, it doesn’t take that much work or thought and its just right there ‘This is what I am calling you too’.  Like, I wanted to come to Africa for several years. But it wasn’t until now that things started to fall into place and I started to ask God what His plan was that I am here. Now, I feel that God called me here.  ...

Run with Perseverence

These are some verses that Shannon shared with me this week that pretty much describe what the Lord has been asking of the rest of our time in Africa: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the...

Can I be the one You use?

I love those moments when God chooses to reveal Himself to us, those moments when God is so evident in our lives. I love when I can look at an experience and say “That was so God.”  We often have worship as a team. Something that we have been learning and living is that worship doesn’t have one set formula. It can look different for everyone. The other night, we sat outside and marveled at the night sky that God created. Then, we started talking about experiences that we’ve had where the only explanation is God. I’m going to share a couple of mine in this blog...
