It takes a little faith

For the past couple months, my heart has been bursting with excitement at the thought of spreading Jesus’s love to and playing with the children of Africa. Since we have such a large team and there are various ministry opportunities here in Swazi, we were broken up into different groups of ministry. I was thrilled to be assigned to carepoint ministry, which provides children with both food and an education. Much to my dismay, I was switched from carepoint ministry to administration due to certain logistics. As much as I would like to say that I trusted God and happily accepted this...

Dirty Feet Aren’t So Bad

Sawubona! (This means hello in Siswati!) Since we have officially been in Africa for 5 whole days now, I thought I would write a blog and update everyone on how my trip is going. We arrived in Swaziland on Monday evening and drove to the building that we will all call home for the next two months. There is a small living area, kitchen, and three very small bedrooms. There are 23 of us living in our home with 2 small port a pottys that smell like elephant poop and one bathroom that we use for cold bucket showers. The team will be split up into different ministries which include: teaching preschool, loving on orphans at care points, serving at a hospice center, agriculture, and administration work for the AIM base down here. Ashley, Jordan, and I are honored to be spending this summer...

Arrival in Swaziland

Our team leaders called this morning and the Swaziland has arrived in South Africa.  They are now en route to Swaziland with their host. Once there, the team will spend the coming days getting introduced to their ministry, coming to know the culture, and finding a routine for the summer ahead.  They will be finding internet in the next couple of days so that they can communicate home and share more about what their days and weeks will look like.  Until then, we wanted to let you know that all is well.  Hope that you’re as excited to follow along with their...

The Swaziland team has arrived at their home for the next two months.  I just got off the phone with the leaders and two of them are currently at the grocery store picking up ingredients for their dinners.  For, although it is 12:24pm here in Atlanta, it is 6:24pm in Swaziland! The team will be spending the coming days settling in and will be communicating home soon!   Thanks, The Passport Team

Foggy Dreams Refocused

Today, I sat in the Paris airport for twelve hours. Today, a life dream was fulfilled as I viewed the Eiffel Tower for the first time, but today this dream looked so much different than I imagined.             For years I dreamed of jaunting off to Paris, leaving the airport, dining at a little bistro, walking narrow streets, and all the while stuffing my face with authentic French macaroons. I imagined turning a corner and moseying on over to the Eiffel Tower. I envisioned taking a handstand picture in front of it, and...
