Looking into the eyes of Gods beloved child; clothes shredded and torn, malnourished enlarged belly, frowning face. I coudn’t take my eyes off of this little girl. She was God’s precious creation.
I have no idea the story behind this little 3 years old girl, but I do know as I held her for nearly 2 hours. Our eyes locked. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen or experienced. She looked deep into my eyes as if she knew me, as if she was my child.
At that moment, in that feeling was when I knew why God had placed me at that specific carepoint. To hold,to comfort,to mother. The way she looked up at me left me speechless. All I was left to do was pray.
I sat there hoping, wishing, and praying this precious child had parent, or someone to hold her the way my mom held me when I was scared. The way she would hold me as she checked for monsters in my closet. The way my dad would let me crawl up into their bed after having awful dreams. Some of my greatest childhood memories sprouted from the love that was poured out on me by my parents. Whether or not my dad is around at night I heard myself saying ” Goodnight, love you, see you in the morning, sweet dreams, goodnight”. Many other memories of times shared with them like all day fishing adventures with dad or home-made halloween costumes designed by momma dearest!
It broke my heart to look down into those wonderfully created eyes and know she most likely didn’t have any of those things that I have been blessed so abundantly with. BUT! What she does have is a heavenly father who loves her with an unmatchable love! Who will never ever leave her or forsake her! Maybe one day she will look back into her childhood searching for memories and think back onto that day that the one crazy white girl held her, and showed her LOVE.
Dear Lord, Father you are a loving God, a creativly wonderful God! I want to thank you for the oppurtuinity you gave me the other day to hold and love on that child for you! I don’t even know her name, but you do. You know everything about her, and you love her! I pray jpy and hope and saftey and love into her life! I pray you would protect her and bring people into her life who will pour your love into her! I love you Lord so so so so much! Amen.
