You are everywhere!

I love what David writes in Psalm 139:

7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths,  you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”

Many times we read that and take comfort that God is always with us! Isn’t that great! But many times we leave it as simply head knowledge. It is when it goes from something we know to something that we experience that it is truly great and we realize how amazing God really is. Sometimes I even read passages like this and think “Wow, that’s great that David wrote that thousands of years ago” but does that really apply to me today? Guess what. It does! Two weeks ago I left everyone important to me and all the things that are essentials to life (or at least comfortable life). A few flights, a night in Jo-burg and a bus ride later I’m in Swaziland. The comforts definitely gone. My friends and family I couldn’t contact for over a week. But one thing still remained. God was with me.

God is the one constant in each of our lives. Do you get that? Maybe you haven’t always been constant with him, but he is always there. He’s not going anywhere. The God I worshipped two weeks ago in Atlanta is the same God I’m worshipping here in Swazi. No matter how hard we try we cannot escape him. Everywhere I look I see God’s beautiful creation. The mountains, the people and the shooting stars declare the wonderful name of Jesus.

I don’t know what you’re going through but know this, God is with you. Right now, in this very moment, He is there. If you are going through the lowest of lows, He is there. If everything is going great, He is there. He comforts us in our sadness and rejoices with us in our joy. God says “I am with you till the end of the ages. This world will eventually fade away. All the essentials that we think we need for life will one day not matter. Only one will remain. That is our God!
