I thought I would write a blog with facts and details about our life here in Swaziland that we might overlook because they are our everyday life now but will hopefully help paint a picture for you of our home here in Swaziland.
– We stay in a small rural town called Tinbutini, 30 minutes outside of the city Manzini
– We stay on a homestead in a hut on awesome bunk beds
– We have electricity!
– We cook for ourselves on a gas stove
– We have a FRIDGE! And when the electricity is on it WORKS!!!
– Compared to the other homes we have seen we have an abnormally large amount of chickens in our yard that often try to come inside
– We rock the bucket showers every couple of days
– SiSwati is a rather difficult language that consists of a variety of different clicks and slurs, the Swazi people laugh with…at us as we try repeating the words.
– A major part of our ministry is spent at care points which are centres set up by missionaries with AIM that provide food for the Gogos (grandmothers) to cook for the children in the community, some of which walk for over an hour to receive their only meal for the day
– The weather is beautiful, normally mid twenties during the day and cools off at night with crazy strong winds
– The toilets here have seats!…just a nice little surprise for me, I am used to squatting.
– Church sounds amazing! There is no equipment but one person starts singing and everyone joins in
– Much to my dismay they have uji (sour porridge) in
– The sunsets are beautiful! Oh have I have missed African sunsets!
