Smiles

I want to tell you a little about the children of Swaziland that we have met!  There is so much joy in these children’s smiles and laughter.  One little boy I met found a toothbrush outside and began brushing my hair with it, singing to me while he brushed.  ((I hope it was sanitary 🙂 ))  When we play Frisbee, or blow bubbles, or just hold the children they light up with laughter and excitement, and love when you compliment their English, or their voices.  They loved when I took their
picture, or let the girls play with my hair.  I have been so blessed  by
their smiles and giggles and the love they have for our group of girls.

We had the opportunity to play with kids at a few different care points this week, and that was a huge blessing. We acted out Bible stories, sang songs, played games, and did crafts. One day we talked to the kids about how Jesus wants to comfort and love them.  We then talked about how Jesus loved his disciples and washed their feet to serve them.  We told the kids that we too loved them and wanted to wash their feet.  So, the kids split up and made three lines, and when one line came over to my bucket I had the opportunity to pray with each child as I washed their worn out feet.  It was amazing to see them smile as they stepped out of the bucket with their feet rinsed off.  I knew that they had been blessed by this little act.
The kids have such big hearts!  A group of boys were playing soccer and I was talking to the goalie who only had one shoe on.  When I asked him where the other one was he pointed to his friend nearby.  “He doesn’t have shoes, so he can borrow one of mine.”  That was his reply and then he just smiled, and I could see how big his heart was.
Another day I was playing with two little kids about 4 years old and they led me to their play place which was a trash-filled hole in the ground.  They jumped into the hole and began pulling out glass, cans, and trash bags, and handing them to me, giggling while they did.  So many of these children have nothing, and it is hard to see, but eyeopening at the same time.
Continue to pray for the kids in Swaziland, pray for our guidance in knowing how to help and what to pray!  Our God is a good God!

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests the the interests of others.  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.  Who being in the very nature of God did not consider equality with God, made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.
