Last night our team went to the AIM apartments to have dinner with two other missionary families from the states. We refer to them as the “Alabama Gang” because they are from Alabama, but mostly because of their awesome accents.
These two families have been to Swaziland before, but this time they have brought their kids along with them and have decided to permanently serve the Lord by living in this beautiful country. As we sat and shared stories about our families and how we came to be in Africa, it dawned on me that I have not actually sat and thought about everything our team has been through, or just everything that I have personally been through while being in Swaziland.
As everyone continued to talk, we would constantly interrupt each other saying, “OH MY GOSH..remember when so and so did that?!?” or “Remember when we prayed for that person?”. Then everybody would giggle or get big smiles because we have truly, even though we are not through with our trip, already shared the BEST memories. None of us have really sat down and just reminisced about our experiences together thus far. We are headed to South Africa next week for our debrief though and I am SUPER excited to just sit back and think about the lives God has changed through us.
I sometimes forget to just take a breather and realize how God has worked in my life or through past experiences. He works in the smallest of ways sometimes and it is so easy to miss the details that pass through our lives. I know God has a reason for everything that plays out in our lives and I am so thankful for the times where I can look back and say, “Wow, God is so good”. Being in Africa has taken me from the craziness in my world and slow down to appreciate and think about WHY God has done what he has.
I am SUPER excited for South Africa and can not wait for all the other adventures God has planned for our team 🙂
Missing home and all my loved ones!!
