Opening Our Eyes

Opening our eyes…. What does that really mean? Opening your eyes? Cause our eyes are open constantly- almost 16 hours a day or so. But isn’t it amazing how you can walk the same path, to the same place, every day for a month and yet never notice the people you pass or the beautiful tree you “see”every day but dont really?

God opened my eyes the other day. I have beeen walking the same way for a month and a half, passing the same houses and same people and I’ve even noticed the houses. But never has it crossed my mind to go see who lived there and say hi. Never. Until a friend of mine told us a family of kids live there without any paretns. Once Karli and I heard this, we decided tog o find this family. We had three houses to choose from and so we picked one at random (the only one at the bottom of the hill cause we were feeling lazy that day Smile) and we met two boys named Sabel and Seth who liv ed there by themselves without parents.

BINGO!

We had found the family on our first try! Little did w3e know that that wasn’t all God was showing us that day.

While we were visiting the, a girl came up to borrow something from the boys and we talked to her for a while. Soon did we discover that she, at age 17, takes care of her three younger sisters and goes to school in the meantime because her parents passed away years ago and her Gogo (grandma) refuses to help them out.

Two!! Two families that are orphans!

And all this time we had walked right past them when they mights have been two families who really needed our friendship. Talk about God convicting me. I am still asounded to this day that it took a month and a half for our eyes to oopen and really SEE. Maybe that was God’s plan and he purposefully closed our eyes to these families till now. But I can’t help feeling that I just got comfortable in my routine and stopped looking for new oppurtunities or listening to God and where He wanted me to go.

And now that I only have a week and a half left with them, I wonder what else have I missed? What else have I been looking at everyday but not really SEEING? I’m so unbeievably happy that I’ve discov ered these new friends of mine and that God opened my eyes and let them in my life, even if it’s only for a small two weeks.

But you can believe that I will be looking around more and really beginning to see people. I can’t wait to discover what I’ve been missing!

You never know, what youve been missing could completely change your life.
