“There You stood holding me, waiting for me to notice You.
You are the truth.
My hands are open and you are filling them.”
This place is beautiful. We wake up to the warm sun and the
green mountains and end our day with countless stars. This week my team was given the opportunity
to see the different types of ministry we can be involved in while we’re here.
There are various “care points” set up around Manzini where children come after
school to eat and receive discipleship training. Many of them have lost one or
both parents. Older women called “gogos” in the community take on the responsibility to cook for about 100 kids
at a time, twice a day. It is amazing to see the joy in the hearts of these
gogos. They are driven and committed to selflessly love these kids without
ceasing. We will get to be a part of this awesome plan that God has.
Receiving a mere taste of Swaziland this week has already
made a crack down the center of my heart. My prayer has been, “Jesus, less of
me, more of You. Rip my heart open and into pieces.” I feel as though I’ve
barely witnessed what God has in store.
While holding these kids, I instantly see Jesus. I see it in
their eyes, and their hands. A hunger for love and hope. I’m in awe that God chose me to come to
Swazi. That He told me to leave behind all that I know. There is so much more
than what I’ve been living. I am so blessed, and He is filling my hands with
love as I hold His children.
