The precious words “I am happy too much” from mumsy at the Hope House in the city of Manzini pretty much sums up my feelings of being here in Swaziland.
This past tuesday, some of us went into town for a different type of ministry to visit the Hope House. The minute I stepped foot into this place, there was an overwhelming sense of peace, love, grace, and contentment. People from all walks of life live there as they are recovering or dealing with all different kinds of sicknesses.
As we started walking, we came across a precious woman in a wheelchair sitting in the sun just soaking up the beautiful day. When we said hello, a huge smile came across her face as she waved at us like we were angels. We asked her how she was doing, and she just repeated over and over, “I am happy too much!” This brought me so much joy to hear, as she told us how she gets her joy from the Lord even in her pain and struggles.
As we prayed healing over her, it hit me that sometimes prayers of change and healing are necessary, but sometimes we just need to stop and realize that our Father does everything in his perfect plan and thank him for the joy of the day. Mumsey’s sense of peace and contentment was one that can only come from her feeling her Father right next to her, and her trust that he has everything under control.
As my time on this computer is ticking away, I want to make it known that every day I wake up here in my hut in Swaziland, Africa, I truly am “Happy too much!” There is no place I would rather be than here in my fathers arms, wherever in the world that may be.
The sunsets, beautiful African children, walking miles on dirt roads day after day, praying for anyone who needs it, having amazing fellowship with the best group of 22 girls everyday for 2 months, going on runs and picking up children along the way, making soccer balls out of bread bags, taking bucket showers, learning siswati, waking up to children singing on their way to school, and focusing on what my Father wants to teach me or where he wants to lead me every day is the best place to be.
Thank you for your prayers, they mean the world. God is showing up every second here in Swaziland, and it is beautiful.
I truly am “Happy too much!”
