Citizen of Heaven

“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will loose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:37-39

This is the verse the Lord has put on my heart these past few weeks. I am not gonna lie being in Africa has not been all butterflies and rainbows like I thought it was going to be. Living in Swaziland is not easy in the slightest, the sun is scorching and there are huge bugs around every corner. There has been many tears shed and many prayers spoken. Up until a few days ago I was terribly homesick. I was counting down the days until I would be back in America and in my comfortable, air conditioned house. But let me tell you not only has the Lord sustained me, he has provided me with a joy that only comes from Him. But that joy does not come easy. I have to choose it on a daily basis. I have to die to my flesh and take up my cross each and every day. I have to remind myself daily that my home is not a residence on this earth, because I am simply passing through on my way to eternal life with The Father. I am a citizen of Heaven and a trespasser on Earth. With that mindset I find myself wishing I had more time to spend in Swaziland.
