CHURCH in all parts of the world! AMERICA: Stand and sing Clap after someone talks or something important happens Use instruments to drowned out voices Sing quieter Everyone sits wherever they want Can wear whatever we want Sing for 20 min maybe Its only 1-2 hours Kids go to classes and all ages sit where they want. Have a plan to practice what we sing every week We don’t dance-usually people are embarrassed Do communion We pass around a bag for offering, down each aisle Don’t need a translator Pastor stands in front on a stage. People don’t put a random baby on your lap We have new people all the time- still care We have multiple services Everyone drives to church We have one person pray and everyone else listens We clean church with a custodian and it’s a job. We shake hands SWAZILAND: Sit and sing Don’t clap after someone talks or something important happens. Don’t have instruments Just voices ( really loud and amazing) Boys and girls sit on different sides- boys on the right, girls on the left. Girls always wear skirts, boys dress up Sing for at least an hour Church last 3-4 hours All the kids stay in church (sit smallest in front to the older gogos in the back) Don’t have structured songs/ whoever wants to start a song does Always moving-dancing when they sing. Don’t do communion When they do offering girls side goes up first and then boys side and they all bring up their money and put it in a basket on a table in the front. Its normal to have a translator Pastor gets really into the message and yells and walks down the aisle. Hold random peoples children during service (they might pee on you) Strong community- everyone knows everyone and genially cares. Church starts at 11- only 1 service Walk to church When they pray everyone prays OUTLOUD! Keep the church very clean-(volunteers) pride in waxing the floor every day. They give hugs to say hello!
