Can I be the one You use?

I love those moments when God chooses to reveal Himself to us, those moments when God is so evident in our lives. I love when I can look at an experience and say “That was so God.”

We often have worship as a team. Something that we have been learning and living is that worship doesn’t have one set formula. It can look different for everyone. The other night, we sat outside and marveled at the night sky that God created. Then, we started talking about experiences that we’ve had where the only explanation is God. I’m going to share a couple of mine in this blog post.

We went on a prayer walk. And on this walk, it was hot. The sun was baking us and I was sweating. I was drinking water to make sure that I didn’t get dehydrated. Then I started praying for the children who walk that road every single day except they don’t have water bottles. I asked God to hydrate them in whatever way He chose. Minutes later, a little girl stops to talk to us. She asked us our names and then she asked for a drink of water. So, I gave her some from my water bottle. God chose to use me to hydrate his daughter.

But it was even more than a simple act of physically hydrating her. We have more to offer these people who are in a desert, spiritually. We bring them the living water. That’s one of my goals for the next few weeks. I want to bring holy water into this dry land. I want God to move through us in a huge way to quench the thirst of His people.

John 4:13
Jesus answered and said to her: “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing into everlasting life.”

There is a little girl named Sphe. (pronounced Spay) She is five years old. She has a little sister who is two. These girls are so beautiful. They’ve been through so much more than little girls should have to go through. It breaks my heart. Sphe isn’t in preschool. She can’t afford it.  She doesn’t know her alphabet. I want to teach her the things that she would be learning in preschool. God has put a burden on my heart for her. My prayer is that He would pour out His love for her through me.

There is a line in the song Set The World on Fire by Britt Nicole that says “Can I be the one You use?” In my prayer journal, I wrote  Sphe- Can I be the one You use?
The next day, after I finished helping at the preschool, she poked her head in the doorway. We used alphabet flashcards and went through them several times. When she was done, she got up hugged me and left. It was so sweet. It was like God saying, yes you can be the one I use, I want to use you.

I’m literally in love with Sphe. I can’t explain it any other way than God giving me His heart for His daughter. I just look at her and think “I love you so much. I barely know you but I love you.”

Please be praying for Sphe, for her family, for our relationship. I want to make as much of a difference in her life as possible in the month I have left.

1 John 5:14
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
