I know that everyone’s posts have been all about what we have been doing, but I really wanted to tell of something that has stood out to me. So, read the rest of the blogs for details of our trip!
What has stood out for me has been the beauty. I haven’t quite been able to get over how beautiful it is here in Swaziland. Mainly the beauty in the people. We just got back to the homestead from doing a prayer walk around the area. As a complete answered prayer, we came across an elderly lady struggling to push her wheelbarrow of water up a hill. So we asked, through the language barrier, if we could help her make it to her home. As we were almost to her home, we stumbled across her neighbor washing clothes outside. Her smiley little child came running toward us (like most children in Swazi do) to say hello. We then went to meet the woman, Trustee, and a few of her six children. Beautiful is the only work to describe them. She welcomed and chatted with us about her family while we held her gorgeous baby boy that just screamed Jesus. I couldn’t help but wonder how anyone could look at such a precious creation and not see God’s handiwork. I see the truth that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 139:14) more than ever before. Trustee’s close friend and neighbor (a different lady from the water lady, sorry I’m still trying to master remembering or even pronouncing names) came over with her children to visit her dear friend. She was one spunky woman with again just the most beautiful children. I could not only see God’s beauty but I felt the joy and love as I look into the precious dark brown eyes. The people in general in Swazi are the most breathtaking people I have ever seen. God is shown so much just through their appearance. They are so open, kind, real, beautiful, and welcoming. And that is just the people.. the place is also a different-than-America type of gorgeous. Today is the first full day of ministry and I can’t imagine the beauty that will be portrayed once we build deep, intimate relations. Swaziland is in pain and desperation, but dang it surely shines bright.
Thank you Jesus for putting Swaziland so dear to your heart. You are in control and we praise you for that.
