Ask and You Shall Receive

One of the many things that God is teaching me this summer, in Africa, is to not put limits on the God I serve. So why is it that I doubt Him? Why is it that I find my self settling for the comfortable and the norm? I have no idea either…

I was struggling at the end of two weeks ago about why I decided to pack one 50lb suitcase and travel to the middle of Africa for two months with a bunch of strangers. I found myself easily falling into routine so suddenly, but as always God shows Himself in the most amazing ways. This last week God provided me with ways to “keep me on my toes” during ministry.

First off on Monday, me and a group of 6 other teammates, (my ministry group for one of the care points we go to each day), walked over to a “mental hospital” that we heard about through a lady at the little store across from our care point. She told us that her sister stayed there and that we should check it out. So Monday we went over there to see if we could help with anything or just pray over the patients there. When we walked through the gate immediately we felt like something was “off”. Through talking with some people there we realized that we were like Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness ” Some serious spiritual warfare is going on here and more and more I’ve been seeing how much the Swazi people need to find the hope and freedom found in Christ.

Secondly on my journey this week, and much more lighthearted, was Friday me and 5 other girls were given the opportunity to serve God with our hands. We worked in this HUGE storage container organizing random donations that were much needed.

Lastly and quickly before my internet time runs out, was at my care point. Normally we have like twenty 3-5 year olds and I love them to death, but my soul was really  yearning to talk and share God’s love with some older kids because these are the kids that are having to grow up super fast and they are the ones that are gong to make a change in this country if there is to be one.
This week the teachers in Timbutini went on strike and there were like 30 kids in middle school that showed up at the care point. God is forever faithful and it humbles me when I realize how often I doubt Him or try to do things alone.

Sorry if the post seemed really rushed, but my time on the internet cafe’s clock is relentless and is disappearing very quickly.
