A Morning to Remember

Last week we went to Nsoko on Friday for the night. The Novas team there
has been facing some heavy spiritual warfare over the past few weeks. Our real
life team went with the intention of covering the place where they are staying
with prayer through the night. We went out to dinner with the Novas team and
had some time to catch up on how they have been doing and how their ministries
are going. Apart from not being able to sleep through the night for a few
weeks, they have been doing well. After a few hours of worship, the novas team
went to sleep and we started the prayer rotation.

                   Every
hour at least two new people would wake up and start a new prayer rotation. My
rotation was from four to five in the morning. It was the shortest hour of my
life. In what felt like ten, maybe fifteen minutes, it was already five and my
rotation was over. I decided to stay up for the sunrise since it was only about
45 minutes away and I was totally awake and feeling God all around. There was
no way I could have fallen back asleep with Him move all around me so obviously.

                     The
sun came up over the mountain just after six. The sky was partially painted
with clouds and shades of pink, yellow, and orange were peeking through. A
morning mist fell on the few of us who stayed to watch. I walked across a field
to get a picture of the sunrise without the obstruction of power lines. When I
turned back to look at where I was sitting I saw a full, bright, giant rainbow
covering acres of fields in front of me. Pictures couldn’t do it justice but I
tried my best to capture the moment. On Monday we told the story of Noah and
the ‘kumbi’ to the kids at the school. I was running through this story in my
head when Becca looked over to me and brought up the promise of the rainbow.
The rainbow is a reminder of God’s promise to his people that He will never
flood the earth again. Statistics are saying in the next 60 years or so (I
don’t know it exactly so please don’t quote me) Swaziland will no longer
contain any natives because of how quickly the HIV/AIDS epidemic is spreading.
Becca pointed out how we have seen so many rainbows, at least one a week, since
we have been here, it’s like God’s way of saying there is hope for Swaziland.                                                       Back
to the Novas team. That night was the first night they had a restful nights
sleep in several weeks. Ironically enough, only of the girls woke up precisely
at six am, which is when the prayer rotations ended. And they have been sleeping well this entire week!  What a privilege it was to
intercede for the novas team, and call on God to protect them and shelter them.
The power of prayer is becoming more real to me every day as i see him working
in so many ways!

hopefully i can get the pictures from that morning uploaded next week. sorry guys.
