After a 3 hour
bus ride….
9 hour wait at the Atlanta airport and many cups of
coffee….
Plus a 16 hour flight over the Atlantic….
We have
officially arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa.
We are
staying here for the night and getting up bright and early to hop on
a bus
and party all the way up to Swaziland.
We have met
some extremely interesting people along the way.
I’m sure we
will compile a blog with all of our stories soon enough.
In
the airport…
we lounged and ate chick-fl-a….
and drank
way to much coffee….
and rode up and down the escalators….
and
said our last goodbyes to family.
We people watched.
We saw
multiple cute old people….
One speed walking to her gate.
We
tried to snap a photo of her but she was too quick.
On
the plane…
We were all within a few rows of each other.
We
attempted to sleep but that hardly worked out for most of us.
We
met a famous man though. (Blog from gene to come about this)
And,
a cute old man mid-flight passed out and busted his face open.
The
flight attendants seemed thoroughly alarmed and woke most of us up in
the meantime.
We couldn’t see what was going on so we prayed
quietly.
All was well after a few minutes and some incredible
passengers helped out.
Apart for the famous man, there was a
group of middle aged men with a ton of camera equipment….
After
we probed, we found out they are on some TV show.
Yes, we sure
did photo bomb them…. be watching for us on the good ol’
television.
Arriving to the Johannesburg airport….
we
grabbed some food and exchanged our money.
In the meantime, we
met up with a missionary friend Andy that we had previously planned
to meet up with.
He coordinated a driver to get us a ride to the
hotel and to Swaziland tomorrow.
We are meeting up with some
other American Swazi interns as well which is comforting as we jump
countries again tomorrow.
It was so good to see a semi-familiar
face as we entered this seemingly unknown country.
God is so
good.
There hasn’t been one moment that I have felt uneasy or
unsafe.
The team is all smiles and so joyful.
I haven’t
heard anything but happy things all week.
They are sleeping
already…. we clearly love jetlag.
We will head up to
Swaziland tomorrow.
It will be a breath of fresh air to put our
suitcases down in a place
where we won’t have to move them
again.
It will be ever more liberating to walk out into the Swazi
sun
and hold one of the thousands of orphans running around.
We
will be posting blogs as often as we can.
We have already been
laughing at some possibly blog titles and content.
Get ready.
Continue to pray for us.
We love our lives and our team
and we are so thankful
but pray for safety tomorrow and the whole
two months.
Also, pray for health and constant joy regardless of
the circumstances.
And that we won’t kidnap too many babies
😉
Cheers until next time.
(Also, excuse the excessive “……” Africa internet has weird formatting. We love Africa.)
