Family. A simple six letter word, but the simple ones are the words that need the most attention. A single word can change the world! So, has this single word accomplished anything?
I am presently on my way to Africa; actually, I’m going to be in Paris for 12 hours before hand. As I look around this full plane, I see crying faces, never ending smiles, and anxious eyes. Moreover, I see the very resemblance of the most beautiful face of all–Jesus. We are all perfectly made in our Father’s image. And since we all are His sons and daughters, He loves us as any perfect Father would…PERFECTLY! I again look around this plane, and I see my family. Not my earthly family, not the one I said goodbye to in Indiana. I can actually see my spiritual family! Each one of them has their Father’s eyes, their Father’s smile, and their Father’s love. Our faces radiate His love for us. And I love that!! I also love each and every one of my teammates and leaders. I love each and every one of my sisters and brothers. Each one of them is a tremendous blessing! I know often life’s physical aspects can easily cause failure to see the love around us, but when we keep our eyes opened and actually see, Christ in every single persons face, the love is unfathomable! It truly is! I came to training camp surrounded by acquaintances and strangers, but I left as a member of such a graciously loved family! A family that was once lost but now is found! God is good, all the time.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.” (Isaiah 60:1-5 NIV)
