Wow. I can’t believe our adventure is finally here! It’s been a blast getting to know everyone and experiencing God in a whole new way at training camp at the AIM Base. This journey began when everyone arrived at the airport and we grabbed and lugged all of our luggage to the Marta train and took that for a few blocks until we got to our stop. We lugged our huge suitcases up to the Safehouse, a homeless shelter in Atlanta, while everyone was staring at us wondering why we were carrying all these bags. While there, we ate dinner and then later that night went out and shared our stories and talked to other people. It was really interesting to do that because during this weekend, a Dragon Con convention took place and people were dressing up as their favorite comic or cartoon characters. It was very intriguing. It was a very long day, but i enjoyed sharing and talking to other people. I got to talk to three other people and got to know them. They really appreciated our company and talking to us. I will never forget this experience.
I didn’t know what to expect when i heard that we were going to training camp. I was sorta nervous. But training camp has challenged me like i have never done before. It taught me a lot what to expect while in Swaziland, and to how God speaks to everyone in different ways. God really opened my heart this weekend to trust him and depend on him and that he has a reason for me to be here on this trip. It has been a great time getting to know my teammates and doing fun activities with them. We did this surrender hike, where we surrendered everything that was on our hearts and was keeping our focus away from this trip. We wrote them all on a log, and went on a walk carrying it and giving them all to God. I enjoyed doing that and surrendering everything to God. I have enjoyed sleeping in bunks with a bunch of girls and showering under a hose that is very cold. It’s hard, but God is getting me through this with his strength. We leave tomorrow for Swaziland, and I am so excited to see what God has in store for us there. This will for sure be an amazing adventure and an experience of a lifetime.
