What’s your biggest fear? Does it have to do with your physical, emotional, maybe even spiritual safety?
As true Christians, we are called by God to only fear one thing, and that’s Him. So naturally, the question arises.. What does it mean to fear God? Fearing God is knowing that He is the Alpha Omega, the Beginning and the End. Knowing that He is holy and sovereign, above everyone and everything, holding your very next breath in His hand. Not just knowing that, but applying it to your life. So much that it affects our actions and the way we live, turning us away from a life of sin.
We as humans get attached to our flesh, our body, and our safety. We’re afraid of getting hurt. We have it all backwards though.
Psalm 118:6 “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?”.
Don’t be afraid, The Lord is with you. What can man do to you? They can hurt or kill you but they can’t touch your spirit. They can’t take the cross away from you. So let go of your flesh, and don’t get attached. For it’s the very thing God saved you from.
Satan is going to try to make us fear him, he’ll attack us spiritually or maybe even physically. But there’s nothing he, or anyone else can do to separate us from the love of our Father (Romans 8:38-39).
Ephesians 6:10-11 tells us to put on the armor of God so we can stand against the devils schemes. Satan spiritually attacks us with the goal of drawing us away from God and making us fear him. How can we fear God and satan? We can’t. If you truly fear God you won’t fear satan.
So don’t run away from spiritual attacks, put on the armor of God and stand firm in your faith against the devil. Knowing there’s nothing he can do to take away the promises Christ has given you.
God is calling us to be fearless.
We will face battles, physically or spiritually. But the war has already been won, we have nothing to fear.
So finally the big question, how do we become fearless?
Psalm 34:4 “I sought The Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” Seek God, give your fears to Him. The closer you come to Him the more fearless you will be.
Lastly, John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”.
