I think we’re in Africa

Yesterday we told the kumby driver to meet us at the hospital at 3óçlock’. Some of us were at a care point, some of us were at Hope House and just a few of us were at the hospital with our tanslaters, Nasepo and Nofondue.

When we were done at the hospital it was a little after 2 so a couple of us went down to the mall but some had to stay to meet the kumby, Nasepo, Nofondue, Natilie, Karli and me. It is very hot outside, Karli and I buy cokes, no kumby. 3oçlock passes, no kumby. We chit chat, come up with new subjects, ask Natilie for the tenth time what time it is, no kumby. Our translaters are getting restless, I buy fat cakes to share, no kumby. We play the caculater game and listen to music, no kumby. It’s 4:30, the kumby arrives! Yay! We start to gather ourselves together and get up. “No!”Our translaters yell, “ït is our turn to strike, sit down, he must learn to be on time.” The driver gets out and comes over, the translaters light in to him in Siswati. “How long do we have to strike?” I ask feeling very awkard. “Five minutes.” Uh this is awkard, we look at each other. “Should we just go?” We waited just a little bit before getting in and going. The driver didn’t seem to have any hard feelings towards our mini strike and the translaters laughed and joked with him the whole way home….TIA
