Glad Hearts and Thanksgiving

Monday was Canada’s Thanksgiving. We have three Canadians on this team. So we had as much of a Thanksgiving feast as was possible. We had mashed potatoes, veggies, beef, flat bread, and donuts. It was delicious. And we all ate until we could explode like a normal Thanksgiving.

We went around the room and did the typical “What are you thankful for?” However, it was different because after spending a month in Africa, we’ve all come to realize even more,  how much we are blessed. We have so so so much to be thankful for. I loved hearing what everyone of my sisters was thankful for. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I’m thrilled we get to celebrate it twice.

Of the many things I am thankful for, when it was my turn, I said I was thankful that God sees potential in me. He has brought me so far. I’m not who I was because He has made me more like Him. I have leaned on Him and He has made me stronger. I’m thankful that He has a plan for my life. Two and a half years ago, I wouldn’t even consider leaving the country for a week with my youth group. Now, look where I am. How crazy good is God? I’m just so thankful that when He looks at me, He sees what I can be and He is bringing me to that. I’m so excited for the plans God has for me and for my future!

As I was reading my Bible a few weeks ago, I read this in Psalms. It is a song of praise for the Lord’s faithfulness to His people. A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

Psalm 100:1-5
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures all generations.
