Fifteen Reasons to Wake Up in the Morning

I’m not a morning person, but one month ago today I woke up at about 7AM even though I had no reason to be up that early. I couldn’t possibly sleep any longer because I knew that my adventure was beginning on that day. A few hours later I found myself driving up to Gainesville, Georgia with my mom. It was about an hour-long drive to the Adventures in Missions headquarters, and I spent most of that time wondering what training camp had in store for me. Soon I would meet my teammates, who I would be spending three months with in Africa….gosh, I hope we get along.

We come from all over: Colorado, Iowa, Mississippi, Illinois, Texas, Georgia, Delaware, South/North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, and even Canada. We are musicians, artists, photographers, writers, and dancers. We are all so different, but God brought us to the same place for a reason

We talk a lot about the ministry we have been doing for the people of Swaziland, but I want to take a moment to acknowledge the ministry that goes on inside this very team. Every single day I am challenged and pushed by these people. Each and every one of them has something so special that God Himself put there.

Joy is the perfect picture of Godly kindness.

Sarah is a beautiful example of the freedom that only the Holy Spirit can bring.

Alexis’s joyful spirit spreads to all those around her.

Mackenzie is a true servant leader.

Emmaly is a great leader and a great friend.

Tanner is a walking and talking testimony of The Lord’s redeeming love.

Brook truly loves the people of this country.

Joanna speaks words that will challenge you like you wouldn’t believe.

Chelsea has a confidence that could only come from security in The Lord.

Rachel has a joy that is straight from the Holy Spirt.

Melanie doesn’t flinch at stepping out of her comfort zone.

Shadrach is anxious to call out greatness that he sees on this team.

Hannah is so very relational with everyone we come in contact with here.

Breanna is wonderfully receptive and obedient to the Lords voice.

Catharine has a truly peaceful spirit that calms those that are near.

I’m not a morning person, but I love waking up to these fifteen amazing individuals from whom I have so much to learn. If I’m looking to grow, I need not look farther than than the walls of the team house.
