Contentment

Wednesday we went to one of the carepoints around the
Manzini area. My entire day was spent holding this little boy who would not
speak, nor look me in the eyes. I did not actually know his name, because they
gave me three different ones for him. I did not know how old he was, because he
would not even talk to our translators nor the GoGos (grandmas) there. I did not
even honestly know whether he was a boy or girl til the end of the day when his
bother picked him up and I asked him “Sisi or Booty?” which means “Sister or
brother?”

As I sat and thought through my day on the bus ride home
there honestly was not a whole lot to think about. After getting through my
whole day within about 5 minutes I could not help but wonder, “Was that enough?
Am I content if that’s all God does with my day? What about if that is all He
does with my entire trip? If I get to the end of this 2 months and all the Lord
called me to do was hold children who will not speak to me, would I be alright with
that?”

I meditated on these questions all evening and really just
asked the Lord what He wants me to do with them. This is what He told me:

“Of course this is enough! Be content with what I give you
to do! Stop doubting if what you are doing is enough. I got you here, do you
not believe I will get you through too?!”

It says in scripture that God is love. If I believe
scripture to be true, which I do, why would I not be content with loving His
people?! The song that kept running through my mind that night was.. all of You
is more than enough for, all of me! This song rings TRUE in my head. Which
means that if all of Him is MORE than enough, and all of Him is love, then me
loving on some boy who has been so traumatized he won’t even speak is certainly
MORE than enough!

I spent that whole Wednesday praying joy over the boy, who I
now know is named Simanga. He is three years old. The following two days he slowly became more and
more outgoing! By Friday he was running around, laughing literally the whole
day. He could not contain it! How faithful our God is!!!!

“God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God,
and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us so that we may have
confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this
world.”  1 John 4:16-17

I choose to be content in His plans for me.
