Yesterday we went to Bvenie Carepoint to help with
handprints again. As we pulled up you could not help but notice that not many
kids were there. We soon found out that this was because they had a very
limited supply of food. They made some porridge to feed some of the kids, to
which they added the sugar we bought them and the bread we supplies was served
as a side item. Once that was out there was nothing until Monday.
Some of the children that come to carepoints come because it
is their only meal each day. So the fact that we did not even have enough food
to feed all of them on Thursday was more than disappointing to me. It is just
completely disheartening to me to know that some of the kids we hung out with
yesterday will not eat again until Monday or Tuesday. How is that right?
Reading SCARED has changed my view of the kids we see. How
many of them go days without eating? How many have gut wrenching hunger pangs?
How many of the girls we see go through sexual abuse on a daily basis? And just
as importantly… How few of these kids
will ever get the opportunity to be saved from this? How long will the king
remain blind to their needs? How long will the worlds stay deaf to their cries?
How long til the needy get help from the rich of this world? How long?
Listen, my beloved brother: did not God choose the poor of
this world to be rich in faith and heirs to the kingdom which He promised to
those who love Him? James 2:5
Even if the world chooses to remain distant from the needs
of these beautiful Swazi children, my God will give them what they deserve
someday. But I, for one, refuse to ignore their cries any longer. I do not know
how I can help, but the Lord and I will figure it out together.
